A collision between a UPS delivery truck and a Volkswagen caused the closure of Banfield Road Tuesday afternoon.
police were called to the area about a mile off Peverly HIll Road, where the Volkswagen left the road and came to a stop nose-down in a ditch. The car’s air bags deployed and extensive front-end damage was visible as it was towed from the scene.
Spider web cracks in the UPS truck windshield indicated the driver may have impacted the window, while the truck also showed signs of front-end and axle damage. An 18-wheeler tow truck was needed to haul it from the scene.
Officer Scott Pearl, who assisted at the crash site, said no one was injured.
Inbound traffic from Peverly Hill Road was diverted for almost an hour.

An 18-wheeler driven by Brent Williams, 31, of Victoria overturned into a ditch at Monday, said Department of Safety Trooper Steven Stanfield.
Police reports indicate Williams was driving north along FM 524 when he swerved to avoid something in the roadway. He overcorrected and the truck spun around and came to rest facing south in the ditch along the road, Stanfield said.
Williams was not injured and no citations had been issued.
The truck came to rest on its passenger-side wheels, propped up by several trees and a power line near the ditch.
Sweeny Fire and Rescue workers diverted traffic for more than an hour to make sure there would be no problems with the power line. No chemicals were reported leaking from the vehicle.

A TOOWOOMBA truck driver has appealed the severity of his sentence following a truck accident in Inverell last December.
Victor Alan Newsome, 54, appeared in Inverell Local Court on Friday where he faced a number of charges in relation to a B-double crash on the Warialda Rd on December 15.
Mr Newsome was given a five-month non-parole sentence and disqualified from driving for three years.
He pleaded guilty to driving whilst under the influence of a drug.
Blood tests taken from Mr Newsome revealed he had amounts of phentermine, amphetamine, methylamphetamine, alprozalam, midazolam and morphine.
The RTA heavy vehicle inspectors found seven defects with Mr Newsome’s truck including incorrect brake adjustments. Mr Newsome lost control of his fully laden B-double truck and ploughed into a house, which was unoccupied at the time. The adjacent house also sustained damage from the accident.
