Details Of Dodge Car & Trucks

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

The Dodge brothers, began their careers as bicycle mechanics. Their bearings and other parts were in demand with the early automobile industry, and they helped design motor parts for early Oldsmobiles.

It wasn’t long before the two brothers were approached by  Ford. In 1902, impressed by their skills,Ford offered them a one-tenth share in his new automobile company.

After 12 years in this partnership, the Dodge brothers left Ford’s company and started their own automobile manufacturing company. Thus, in 1914, the Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company was established. The “Old Betsy” was their first car, built that year.

In 1925, the Dodge Brothers Company was purchased by Dillon, Read & Company, and in 1928, the Chrysler Corporation took over a much larger Dodge Brothers. It continued expanding its line of vehicles, which included the WWII Power Wagon - a vehicle that garnered enough acclaim to continue production a decade after the war.

Following Chrysler’s takeover of the British Rootes Group and Simca of France, and the resultant establishment of Chrysler Europe in the late 1960s, the Dodge brand was used on light commercial vehicles, most of which were previously branded Commer or Karrier, and on pick-up and van versions of the Simca 1100. In the 1960s and 1970s Dodge contributed to America’s fascination with high-performance “muscle cars” by manufacturing the 505 Charger Daytonas for stock-car racing and as production cars.

Dodge and Chrysler brought the domestic convertible back to the roads in the 80s in the form of the Dodge 400 and the Chrysler Lebaron. In the 90s, the eagerly anticipated Dodge Viper put the muscle back in “muscle cars.” All of which soon culminated in the new, aggressive look on the Dodge Ram Pickup, Dodge Dakota and Dodge Durango.

For the model year of 2007, Dodge, a part of Chrysler, has lined up some new and some reworked models for its fans. Let’s take a look at a few specifications of the 2007 Caliber, Charger and Nitro -
2007 Dodge Caliber

It would seem that Dodge decided a compact hatchback is a swell idea in light of America’s recent and slightly elevated interest in smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles. The Caliber is not a hard-core fuel miser, though, and is instead a pretty normal-sized compact. It features an all-new chassis design, and is being built at DaimlerChrysler’s retooled Belvedere, Illinois, plant.

For the Caliber’s initial launch in North America, Dodge has three styles available (SE, SXT and R/T) and a hat trick of four-cylinder, twin-cam engines: a 1.8-liter, a 2.0-liter and a 2.4-liter. The goal of improved fuel economy has also played a role in the Caliber’s transmission offerings. While the 1.8-liter gets a traditional five-speed manual, the 2.0-liter and 2.4-liter engines have a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Today, Dodge is a part of the Daimler Chrysler AG and is based out of Stuttgart, Germany. The Dodge brand has become famous primarily for its trucks. This is a reputation that the company is now trying to change by introducing the new Dodge Charger and the Dodge Challenger. So, that’s more to look forward to from Dodge!

Details On Hybrid Truck

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

One of the most popular hybrid searches is for hybrid trucks and suvs, as people eagerly await announcements of new hybrid electric, diesel, and flex fuel pickups, as well as hybrid commercial trucks, semis, freight trucks, and more. And although full hybrid trucks are a thing of the future, it’s a not so distant future as a couple are expected in 2008, with more coming in 2009 and 2010.

While it’s true there were some mild versions of hybrid pickups from Chevy and GMC, they are currently discontinued until late ‘08, when GM plans to reintroduce the Silverado and Sierra with their more advanced, two-mode hybrid system .In addition, we are hearing announcements from Peterbilt about their plans to roll out several heavy duty hybrids, including a hybrid semi truck. For truck lovers, the best is yet to come.

And while hybrid pickup trucks from Toyota, Dodge, and other truck manufacturers are already rumored, it’s top companies like Freightliner, Kenworth, International Truck and Engine, and Eaton that are getting much of the deserved attention.

Eaton’s medium duty, diesel-electric hybrid drive system will begin production in 2008, and for trucks equipped with the hybrid technology, it could provide up to 60 percent better fuel economy, reduced emissions, and reduced noise levels. In addition, idling time could be cut up to 87%! Hybrid trucks are about to make some “quiet” noise. Learn more about other future hybrids here.

History Of London Limousine

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

In 1987 when first started providing Stretch Limousine Services in London’s West End,were located very close to Mayfair and Hyde Park. In those days there were only 7 Stretch Limos in existence in the whole of Europe and we had access to all 7 of them. This is because the owner of these 7 Limousines had his office only yards away from our own Chauffeur-Drive Car Hire office.

Limousines were all BRAND-NEW 6-seater Cadillac Stretch Limousines and offered to supply him with bookings from our own Client base in return for 15% commission from each hire. The manager of the Cadillac Limousine Hire company readily agreed to our suggestion on one condition: Which was that we supply the chauffeur to drive their Cadillac Limousines on our own Clients’ Bookings. Well of course that was “an offer that we could not refuse!”.

That’s how it all began for us and still remember the delight to this day of posing as the driver in these Stretch Limos and we used to get as much attention (if not more) than the actual passengers. The words “Lucky Swine” do come to mind !

When we were driving Stretch Limos in those early days, other road users used to give us “enough respect” and also used to literally give way in their cars and let us have priority over them, so that they could get a look at this very rare beast and it’s occupants.

LONDON LIMOUSINES

So coming back to the question: Why is Limo Hire in London now so popular and turning over in excess of £100,000,000 per year in the UK ?

Well the main reasons are:

1. These are desirable Prestige Vehicles.

2. They have some very nice extra amenities inside them ie. TV’s, DVD PLAYER, CD RADIO, SURROUND SOUND, LUXURIOUS CONFERENCE STYLE SEATING, BAR WITH DRINKS, PRIVACY, TINTED WINDOWS, LEGROOM and much more.

3. For any important occasion (Hen-Nights, Birthdays etc) you want to do something different that you don’t do every day and treat a Loved One and also feel Special.

4. But we feel a big reason for the popularity of Limousine Rental is their carrying capacity together with the panache and style mentioned above. It’s the Party Atmosphere that you get with 8 or 16 people all together in one place, at one time and for one purpose that makes them SO MUCH FUN !

In other words since the group of friends, relatives or associates are not split and separated into several different cheap minicabs on the way to and from their Chosen Venue, then they can all interact with each other, revel in each other’s company and conversation while they relax with their favourite Drink & Music and enjoy a very comfortable ride on their Special Day.

5 Cool Cars Around The World

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Car design is always different, in different parts of the globe. Some embrace the classics and build upon that, while some just totally move on to a different, futuristic direction.

Italy: Pagani Zonda Cinque – Pagani Zonda, a mid-engine sports car built by Pagani has come out with the designs for the 2008-2009 manufacturing dates — the Cinque. (pronounced cheen-kway) Being built upon the special request of a Hong Kong-based Pagani dealer, only 5 (five) of these beauties will be made at the cost of £1million each, with the delivery date of June 2009.

Japan: Lexus LF-A – Lexus is the luxury vehicle division of Toyota (as any car-enthusiast will know) was first introduced in the United States. They’ve come up with a line of concept cars, named the LF series, whose earlier models have never seen the light of day. Though recently, by bits and pieces, ideas found in the concept cars have made their way to reality, and hopefully, the LF-A reaches that. Bordering on the exotic, it features the new Lexus design combined with a racing-feel, this word for this car is “dynamic.” Add a couple of fins and paint it in black and you’ve got a Batmobile!

France: Peugeot e-motion – Being the second-biggest carmaker in France, Peugeot showcased its brand of an electric-powered sports car in the form of the e-motion. The combination of concave and convex surfaces really highlight the cars … futurism. This is enhanced by a subtle line that follows the headlights, into the doors, leading up to the rear lights.

Hungary: Audi TTRS – This is more of a collab than anything. Designed in the states and produced in Hungary, the TT is Audi’s two-seat roadster line. This new concept design features a fully-cowled body, unlike any that has come before it.

USA: Custom Cadillacs – In the US, generations have grown to know that the Cadillac is synonymous with “high quality.” Originally the luxury-car division of General Motors, Cadillacs are a statement that says, “things just get better with age.” With thousands of Americans still enamoured with the classical style and shape; forget sleekness: we own the best monster cars ever. In California, car customization is a big business, with new life being brought upon the oldest of vehicles. Customized Cadillacs are a staple for this, and the generations that have gone before. With kids proudly driving around in them, lowered suspension, hydraulics and all.
