Minnesota Highway 23 does not belong in the heart of downtown St. Cloud. With the DeSoto Bridge closed, now is the time to reroute it and create a southern beltway that keeps those big semi trucks out of St. Cloud.
For example, driving from west to east, Highway 23 could become part of Interstate Highway 94 until about the interchange of I-94 and County Road 75. From there, a new Highway 23 bypass could be built that goes north and east, across the Mississippi River, to connect with the existing Highway 23 or U.S. Highway 10.
We need to keep the semi trucks out of downtown.
